Creative Ways To Prepare Your Child For Kindergarten!

She has a very strong grasp of the letters and their sounds and is able to work her way through sounding out some words. She is very excited to be able to look at a book and see more than just letters jumbled on the page.

February Book of the Month: How to Build an A

February 1st, 2009

Author: Sara Mida

How to Build an AThe author’s creative approach to the alphabet grabs readers’ attention and engages them in experiencing the alphabet page by page. It accommodates the interactive learning process that is at the very heart of child-centered learning.

This book comes with 11 foam pieces each with its own bag for safe keeping. These tools allow the reader to construct each letter of the alphabet. A depiction of the letter construction is on each page to serve as a motivator and guide. The shapes help the reader to recognize how letters are formed: straight lines, diagonal lines, curved lines, circles etc.

The opportunity for meaningful dialogue and exploration is a treasure. The text is simple and contains the same pattern continuity. This is optimum in making the reading predictable for the emergent reader.

Illustrations throughout the book are simple lined drawings in watercolor. Each one, unique and original.

Pre K Scholars prides itself on making learning fun and interactive and that is exactly what this author has achieved with this new style of ABC book. We highly recommend it on our parent/teacher literature list.
